South West Lakes Trust would like to offer schools the opportunity for study of the environment at Lopwell Dam Local Nature Reserve (LNR).

Primary and secondary schools may undertake self-programmed visits or take advantage of South West Lakes Trust (SWLT) staff to assit in the delivery of National Curriculum activities. Visits and educational programmes can also be tailor-made to suit individual teachers requirements.

The site offers tremendous opportunties for study and includes several habitats within close walking distance. Habitats on site include Saltmarsh, Freshwater MArsh, Semi-natural Woodland, Grassland and the aquatic habitats of the Estuary and the River Tavy. The area contains a wealth of wildlife and has high conservation value.

Educational possibilities range from, Wildlife conservation, Science and fieldwork, Geography, habitat and Management, Sustainability and the environment, Artwork and Creative writing. Toilets are available on site and classrooms facilities can be provided by prior arrangement. There is a YHA camping barn providing simple accommodation for groups and individuals, sleeping up to 16 people.
